Bill Proestler, owner of 5 Star Car Wash and Detail Center, is passionate about giving blood on a personal level. His daughter Kortney was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma at the age of 18. \u201cShe was treated aggressively\u00a0at UC Davis in Sacramento for over a year. Her treatment required a\u00a0bone marrow transplant, radiation and\u00a0chemotherapy. The\u00a0whole process\u00a0required over 80 units of blood. It’s important for us to hold these events at our business to help others survive\u201d Proestler explains. Vitalant has been a community blood provider since 1941and serves patients in more than 45 hospitals in the Bay Area. They rely 100 percent on volunteer donors who save countless lives each year. Vitalant needs to see 500 donors a day to meet the needs of local hospitals and patients.<\/p>\n
\u201cBlood is the most precious gift that anyone can give to another person \u2013 it really is the gift of life.\u201d Steve Pignataro, Vitalant Donor Representative explicates. \u201cWe are beyond grateful for 5 Star Car Wash\u2019s continued support and dedication. Through our partnership, 387 lifesaving units of blood have been donated. Each donation of blood can potentially save 3 lives, 5 Star Car Wash blood drives have possibly saved the lives of 1,161 people!\u201d<\/p>\n

What:<\/strong> 5 Star Car Wash \u2013 Vacaville Blood Drive The blood donation process takes roughly an hour. Donors must be at least 16, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good health. Additional height\/weight requirements apply to female donors 22 and younger. Donors who are 16 need a signed Vitalant parent permission slip. Arrive well nourished and hydrated with photo identification. Donors may complete the health questionnaire prior to their appointment.
